Pier Host Program:Fisheries, Seals and Sharks

The Northwest Atlantic Seal Research Consortium, the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy and the Cape Cod Commercial Fisherman's Alliance teamed up during the summer of 2018 to help share expertise and information on sharks, seals and fisheries to the thousands of people who come to visit the Chatham Fish Pier.

This working waterfront is the #1 tourist attraction in Chatham and offers a unique opportunity to see catch unloaded, seals hauled out on the sand bars and venturing inbetween fishing boats. Monomoy, to the south of the pier, is also home to gray seals and white sharks.

By providing information and training between these three partners, we hoped to mythbust and educate, not only to our visitors, but also for all of us within these three organizations. We also partnered to provide information for the Learning Book produced by the CCCFA
